The La Paz County Public Works Department was recognized by the Arizona APWA on August 2, 2018 by being awarded their "2018 Public Works Project of the Year for Small Cities / Rural Communities Disaster / Emergency Repair".  The project enables the Public Works Department to monitor rainfall and flow in washes at key locations in the County from their office.  Using this information, they are able to stage personnel and equipment where they are most needed to facilitate repairs during and following storms.

Public Works was assisted in this project by La Paz County Community Development, Atkins North America and J.E. Fuller Hydrology and Geomorphology as the prime contractor, and with grant funding by the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs.
